When you want to publish a blog and are worried about who can view it and who can’t, you can edit the privacy settings in the options menu, so that only friends can view your blogs. Also you need to be careful about what you transfer because some files may be infected or contain viruses so you will need to do a malware check on your files before you transfer them.

Potential threats in IT

Although there is lots of advantages to the computer world there are also major problems with it as well, for example ever since computers or the internet has been introduced there has been a new form of bullying called cyber bullying, which is when people send other people emails that upset the other person, although this form of bullying is minor and can be dealt with quickly it is still a growing problem. Also computer viruses can be a major problem in the IT world, because they spread and cause damage to computers, they can:

·       Delete files

·       Slow your computer down

·       Spread from one computer to another

·       Cause your computer to crash frequently

Cyber bullying can be helped by telling a parent, teacher or police etc. They will also believe you because you have the evidence, they can also easily find out where the email came from and the person doing it can be prosecuted.

Also the computer viruses can be countered by installing various anti malware software which protects your computer against viruses.

Why a Blog is an effective Communication channel

We chose blogs as our communication channel, because it is on the internet and everyone in the class can see it if they want to, if we used an email to do this we would have to email it to everyone else in the class and that would take up a lot of time, also blogs are unable to be edited by people who view them so there is no danger of people editing your work. Also you can make your blog pages look nicer such as adding a background or a theme to your blogs so that they look more appealing.

Video Conferencing

Video conferencing is a live video and voice communication between locations all over the world, it is a very effective communication channel and very simple to use. It can be viewed at once by one or many people at a time, which makes it popular for large companies.

It can be used by large businesses so that they may communicate with other branches over the world if necessary all at the same time. They are also used by normal people especially if they want to see and talk to relatives that live across the world.

 Here’s how to use it:

·        Get a computer, internet connection and a webcam; you also need a large screen to display the images. You also need a microphone to be able to talk to other people.

·        Install the additional software programs that are needed to work the video conference, it may need to connect or synchronize properly to the other person or people.

·        Once this has been completed you may start the conference, the sound or images that you make will be transmitted to the other person or people as if you were actually speaking to them face to face.

 

Video conferencing is good because:

·        It allows people to be able to see and talk to each other all over the world

·        For large companies it allows people to have meetings whilst staying in their own buildings.

·        It is useful for disabled or old people who can’t walk or travel very much

·        You can talk to more than one person at a time

Video conferencing is bad because:

·        It requires an internet connection to work

·        It uses up electricity

·        It requires a lot of hardware (Webcam, Headset or Microphone) 

·        The software is expensive
